What GetawayMatch stores

When you create or update a profile, GetawayMatch stores the information you submit so it can personalize your matches. This may include your email address, airport or home area, travel preferences, budget, interests, rewards-program names and balances you choose to enter, saved/booked plans, and recommendation feedback. Do not enter card numbers, CVVs, passwords, bank logins, or other account credentials.

Location choices

Local Matches prefers current-location mode unless you turn it off or select a manual area. Your browser must grant permission first. When allowed, a one-shot device reading temporarily sets the Local search origin. Apple-first Local places send the temporary origin and search bounds to Apple Maps; an explicitly chosen, separately enabled Google search sends bounds to Google Places. These bounds can reveal your precise location. Ticketmaster receives a coarse search cell for its separate event search. These providers process those searches under their own privacy policies; geographic bounds and coarse cells are not anonymity. GetawayMatch checks place or venue distances against the temporary origin. This mode does not change your home city or departure airports and does not continuously track you. Application code does not save raw device coordinates in member records, browser storage or shared result caches. This application-level behavior is not a promise that hosting or provider systems retain no request data. The device reading expires from application memory within two minutes and is discarded when you turn the mode off or leave the page. A brief switch to a provider tab can reuse a still-fresh reading on return, without another lookup. No location lookup starts while this page is hidden. Your mode and manual area are remembered on this device when storage is available. If location fails or permission is denied, a saved/manual area is used and labeled as such; you can always choose a city/state or ZIP. The separate onboarding Use my location button uses the existing OpenStreetMap/Nominatim city-resolution service.

Daily text alerts

If you explicitly opt in to text alerts, GetawayMatch stores the mobile number you provide, your consent record, alert-time and timezone preferences, opt-out status, and limited delivery history needed to operate and troubleshoot the service. Message frequency varies and is currently designed around no more than one daily match alert. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out or HELP for help. Consent to texts is not a condition of purchase.

Mobile information

GetawayMatch does not sell mobile numbers or SMS consent information, and does not share that information with third parties or affiliates for their own marketing or promotional purposes. Messaging and infrastructure providers may process the minimum information needed to deliver, secure, and troubleshoot messages on GetawayMatch’s behalf.

Apple Maps

Local place discovery uses Apple Maps when securely configured. Apple receives selected area or temporary coordinates and grouped interests. Custom Apple place cards are shown alongside the corresponding Apple map, including its notices. Provider place details are transient and are cleared when hidden or expired; Saved and Booked retain only an Apple Place ID and your action, with links to current details in Apple Maps. Browser MapKit requests use Apple services directly and are not covered by the server request counter. No account-wide quota or infrastructure non-retention guarantee is implied.

Google Places and Maps

A deliberate Google search action and separate server enablement are required for nearby Google discovery. Apple failure or empty results never silently call Google or Yelp. When explicitly requested, GetawayMatch sends your selected area or temporary geographic search bounds and activity categories to Google Places API (New). Saved/manual city searches verify city/ZIP centers within the request. Google place details and centers are not stored in the application database; Saved and Booked keep Place-ID references and your actions. Current-device searches do not store the device origin in shared result caches. Distances are approximate straight-line measurements, not driving miles or travel times. Search coordinates and place details are processed by the relevant provider under its policies. Result links open Google Maps.

Ticketing, travel, and affiliate partners

Ticketmaster, travel providers, card-offer partners, and other direct links may take you to a third-party service. Those providers handle information you submit to them under their own policies. Some approved links may earn GetawayMatch a commission at no additional cost to you. GetawayMatch does not need your full payment-card number to recommend a card or rewards strategy.

Getaway AI

Questions submitted to Getaway AI may be processed by an AI service provider to generate a response. Do not include card numbers, CVVs, passwords, bank logins, loyalty-program passwords, or other sensitive credentials.

Feedback and beta measurement

GetawayMatch records actions such as Interested, Save, Not interested, Booked/Going, overall beta feedback, and privacy-minimized return-visit dates so recommendations and the beta experience can improve. Internal beta snapshots are designed to be aggregate-only rather than lists of individual members.

Your choices

You can update your profile, turn text alerts off, download your available GetawayMatch data, or delete your saved profile from the matches page. Profile deletion is designed to remove the profile and associated GetawayMatch feedback, rewards, SMS preference/history, visit, saved-plan, request, and delivery records tied to that member. Deleting GetawayMatch data does not cancel a transaction made directly with a third-party provider.

Security and retention

GetawayMatch uses private server-side credentials for connected providers and keeps only the data needed to operate the current beta and its safety/diagnostic features. No internet service can guarantee absolute security, so the beta intentionally avoids collecting full payment credentials and account passwords.
